Persian Darbar’s journey began in the year 1976 , when the Late Mr. Abubakar Kotwala, along with his close friends, established the first outlet in Byculla. Built on the simple yet powerful belief that food prepared with honesty, warmth, and authentic flavour can create lasting memories, the restaurant quickly found a place in the hearts of Mumbai’s diners. What started as a modest dining space soon grew into one of the city’s most recognised names, admired for its generous portions,Flavours satisfying customers taste buds, and commitment to tradition.

Over the years, this legacy has been carefully nurtured by the Kotwala family, who have remained true to the original vision. The second generation, led by Mr. Javed Abubakar Kotwala, ( Owner of Persian Darbar) strengthened the foundation of Persian Darbar while preserving the values that made it a trusted part of Mumbai’s food culture.

Today, the Byculla outlet also continues under the leadership of Mr. Javed Abubakar Kotwala ( Owner of Persian Darbar), and partner, carrying forward the essence of the brand with pride and consistency.The tradition now extends into the third generation through Mr. Faizaan Javed Kotwala , who brings a contemporary perspective while remaining deeply rooted in the legacy established by his grandfather. The Lokhandwala outlet stands as Mr. Faizaan Javed Kotwala’s venture, reflecting a modern approach that aligns with evolving dining habits while maintaining the authentic taste Persian Darbar is known for.

The culinary philosophy of Persian Darbar remains unchanged. Drawing inspiration from Mughlai, Punjabi, Chinese, and coastal cuisines, each dish is enriched with signature seasonings refined over decades. From the iconic mutton raan to timeless favourites cherished by guests, every preparation reflects craftsmanship preserved across three generations. For nearly five decades, Persian Darbar has stood for authenticity, warmth, and a deep love for good food. What began in Byculla in 1976 continues today through Mr. Javed Abubakar Kotwala and Mr. Faizaan Javed Kotwala.
